Philippe Sionneau studied Chinese medicine in Beijing, Fo Shan and Wu Han. He is one of the few Westerners to have taken a full course in Chinese medicine at a university in China, the Hubei University of Chinese Medicine, from which he graduated. This is an official state diploma from the People’s Republic of China. To be more precise, he has a Bachelor’s degree, which entitles him to practice Chinese medicine in any hospital in China. He is considered a doctor there. He is the first Frenchman and one of the very few Europeans to have obtained this title. His university degree is registered under n°940044 and his state diploma under n°940029. Currently, only four Frenchmen have passed the university exam, and Philippe was the first in 1994. What’s more, he remains the only one to hold the Chinese national diploma enabling him to practice in any hospital in China.
